You may have used software, perhaps for words processing or spreadsheets to solve problems. Perhaps now you are curious to learn how programmers develop softwares. A program is a set of step-by-step instructions that direct that computer to do the tasks you want it to do and produce the results you want. A set of rules that provides a way of telling a computer what operations to perform are called a Programming Language. There are many programming languages.

Computer programming is an art. Many people believe that the computer programmer must be good at mathematics, have a good memory for for figures and technical information, and be prepared to be spend many hours sitting at at computer, typing programs.
